A form of skin cancer that arises in melanocytes, the cells that produce pigment.
![]() | In a recent study done by the Center for Disease Control, 70 percent of young adults and 50 percent of older adults said that they had little to no knowledge about Melanoma. However, Melanoma is the fastest growing cancer in the United States, causing 75,000 deaths each year. Yet even though so many die each year, melanoma is one of the easiest cancers to prevent. If caught in the earliest stages, melanoma is entirely treatable with a survival rate of nearly 100 percent. If untreated and allowed to spread, there is no known treatment or cure.Every one in five Americans will develop skin cancer at some point in their lives. However, over 80 percent of the lifetime sun damage occurs in childhood. Kids rarely allow proper sunscreen application. These bad habits can easily help cause Melanoma years later.NO ONE IS TOO OLD TO KNOW THE DANGERS OF MELANOMA. |

This website was created as an MYP project to educate the world on the dangers of Melanoma. The more people who know about it, the better. It can harm people of all ages and once it is diagnosed, it is extremely hard to get rid of. NO ONE should have to go through the horrible treatment for melanoma because it is one of the easiest diseases to avoid. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT ON SUN-TAN LOTION.
