Questions to Ask the Oncologist
- How many lymph nodes are involved? What is the prognosis for patients like me? (no doctor can tell you your fate)
- What is the risk that the melanoma has spread to other parts of my body?
- What additional treatment do you suggest?
- Do you know of any clinical trials that might be promising?
- Will you help me find and enlist in a clinical trial?
- Do I need specialized scans? How often?
- Will you work with me if I choose no further treatment? Or if my disease gets to the point where I need only excellent palliative care?
